The Valentines phase

So haven't updated in so long but I've been so busy you won't even imagine, Actually for all those ib students maybe you could feel my emotional distress through this mini apologetic opening. And talking about the ib! The February mocks are coming up! Yay. Totally looking forward to those FUN two weeks of exams and cramming. But before I discuss about my stressful life of being and ib student, let's talk about valentines. Yes it's already that time of season! All the stores are stocking up on their pink-plastic wrapped chocolate goodies, ready to sell to all those girls and boys who are looking forward to celebrating the happy occasion with their friends, family and of course, their own bfs, while I'm stuck here, boyfriend-less (&happy) doing my mocks! Yes, one of the exam days are on valentines! So what's the big deal about valentines? It's about the battle between the girls!! Yes, in japan it's kinda like a custom for only girls to give chocolates and candy to the guy or people they like. And this marks the super-secret-battle-that-only-girls-know-about. Who makes (or buys) the best chocolates!

So today I'm just going to list the types of people and their chocolate :)

Firstly, the BUYER.
The one who always buys the gift wrapped goodies and says that they put a lot of effort, when in fact they probably just randomly forgot or got lazy to even hand make chocolates for you and instead bought chocolates from target that were probably made by child slaves :)

Next up is the COVER UP.
I know many of you are out there, don't cover it up because we can see all the evidence! Yes, I'm talking about the people who make one chocolate out of the buddle of goodies they give you. So there would be a tiny bag of sweets given to each person and the COVER UP would solely announce that she made the cookie (example) by herself, when it's just shoved together in a bag with other sweets bought from target covering the crumbling cookie.

The LEGIT COOKER.
Okay, so everyone, let's be honest here,... Who actually cooks or makes chocolate for valentines?? We'll if your one of those people who said yes then, we'll you're probably not in grade 12 or a senior yet? The person who actually makes the chocolates probably is the type of girl who does not want to lose their girl fight for love or attention, to other girls. Scaaaarryyy girl stuff going on there every year!

The criteria I made was so inaccurate and bad, but that's the way it looks from a girls perspective, so there you go!

Btw. How do seniors even have the time to make chocolates?! I want to know so if anyone knows tell meeeeee.

Need some sleep now night!

Whatcha eatin'?

So yesterday on the Dlife Channel (its a channel where they show a lot of English shows) they aired the film, Toast, which was released in 2010. Its based on the famous English cook/writer, Nigel Slater`s autobiographical novel! I actually couldn`t wait to see it because I firstly love Freddie Highmore! incredible acting skills! and secondly, because it was based on a real life person! Bottom line. It looked interesting and a must-see for people who like mixing up different concoctions in their kitchen!

I haven`t read the actual autobiography, which is originally a book with the same title, but I thought it was different and interesting in a good sense. The plot or story was about Nigel living with his family, where no one cooks, only heat vegetables in a can for a meal. And it follows a tragedy where his mother, who cannot cook, dies of a lung disease and leaves her arrogant and bitter husband and curious son. While the two are trying to get on with their lives, Nigel tries to cook for his father, getting advice from one of his best friends that a secret to a man`s happiness is through his stomach (so cliche). But this fails as Nigel ends up burning the fish he got from the store, but his dad sympathizes and eats it, and to an extent where he enjoys it. But his father suddenly hires a cleaner, Mrs Potter to do the chores around the house, but this leads to his father getting seduced by the slutty maid and she starts spending a lot of time in the house. Nigel obviously dislikes her as they compete for his father`s attention and praise. This later leads to the Slater family moving to the countryside and Mrs Potter coming and living with them as well. From his teenage years, Nigel starts taking home economics and pursues his love for cooking. One day he brings his father scones and wins the attention of his father, which Mrs Potter despises. Mrs Potter and Nigel continue to battle each other in winning over their father`s attention and praise, but one day his father passes away. He then decides to leave the house even though Mrs Potter pleads him to stay, but he retaliates by saying she wins and he`s done with competing with her. From there, he runs out and goes to a restaurant and starts his new life as a training chef and he never sees Mrs Potter again.
Okay, that was a huge load! I`, sorry for drowning you in the plot! :(

One thing that caught my attention was Nigel`s relationship with his family, mainly his father. They were complete character foils! Nigel wanted healthy homemade meals but his parents only let him have canned meals which are totally unhealthy! It was like Nigel was the parent and his parents were the annoying children who wouldn`t eat anything.
Also the relationship with his father was very interesting for me. At first I couldn`t understand why Nigel wanted to impress his father, because his father was bitter and paid no attention towards his son, and Nigel already knew that. If I were Nigel I would just leave it as it is and not even try to get his attention. But as I watched I soon realized he just wanted to be accepted and loved by his father. And this led to competing against Mrs Potter, in which he surrendered to after his father`s death. This emphasized Nigel`s intentions and goals that were all for his father or it can also be interpreted as his way of expressing love for his father.

Leaving the link to the trailer if anyone is interested! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN0NTfFyFaM

Okay thats it, all I wanted to say was the thing that I couldn`t understand.

SO good bye for now

Yesterday`s Fame-Obsessed Clan

Instead of working on my already done English paper, I decided to spend my Sunday night watching the 2011 version of The Bling Ring, which stars Austin Butler from The Carrie Diaries!
I think every one has heard of the Beverly Hills burglars who stole from the heiress, Paris and scene-maker, Lindsay Lohan, right? And recently there has been another adaptation of the series of fortunate events that has been released this summer (but its releasing in Dec for Japan)! So I decided that, before I watch the 2013 adaptation with Emma Watson, I did a little research and came across the 2011 adaptation and decided to take a little look (because Austin is so hot!) to get some background info and details on the actual events.

The new Radio, I guess?

Ahh...I`ve been dying to write, or type! its been so long, well actually only a day but I still wanted to write. So for a while I`ve been into the app "8tracks" which is an app offered on both Apple and Android that is practically a radio containing various songs for every, and I mean every mood and feeling! And because I`m really into mainstream music and all the popular or "in" music, I get all my updates and etcetera from here. So I`ve decided to share my favourite mixes and categorize them so everyone or anyone who is reading this can choose which mix to listen to according to mood.

"we only got one life (peace sign)" is a recent mix I`ve come across that features:
Bridgit Mendler, Phillip Phillips, We The Kings, Ryan Beatty, Emblem3 and Carolina Liar
I found this mix when I was looking for Bridgit Mendler songs, because I personally like her voice, its so unique! And I was also into Emblem3 when they were on the American X-Factor. I saw snippets of them when I watching X-Factor because I was introduced to Fifth Harmony and Carly Rose Sonenclar from one of my friends.
Overall the mix is great when you just want to relax but not too relaxed to make you dose off. Its one of those mixes that runs as your BGM when your doing your usual errands in a motivated mood. Even though its a short, 9 songs, its definitely worth a try if you like pop based BGMs for your laid back, fun life.

Another favorite is "Kiss me beneath the milky twilight", which doesn`t contain the latest hits from the Billboard top 20s, but the music is really cute and girly! So what if its made up of some oldies! I love these songs! They get me into my happy mood (although there are some slow relaxed songs), which is practically my fantasy getaway from school, homework and problems. These songs actually get me feeling like I`m in an actual girly movie directed by me lol. This mix contains the artists such as:
Six Pence None The Richer, Counting Crows, Lana Del Rey, Icona Pop, Finger Eleven, One Republic, The Pretty Reckless, Avril Lavigne, Parachute, Ingrid Michaelson, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and Bridgit Mendler (again!)
The mix is dedicated and themed to the characters of PLL, Hannah and Emily, and the actresses themselves, Ashley and Shay. I came across this when I was randomly looking up Ashley Benson (because she is my current style icon) and I was able to find this! I hope people who are reading this have read the first entry where I stated my love and obsession for PLL lol. This mix isn`t just a typical pop girly collection of songs, but it has really mellow and folk-ish songs and really strong motivating tunes as well!

You know how 8 tracks functions right? It won`t let you skip several songs so I can only introduce 2 mixes today (because I can`t write all the artists without skipping). So I think I`ll write again tomorrow if I finish my History and English assignments! And I need to listen to more mixes so I can write about them more here!

So goodbye for now!

And I`ve changed by blog title to "Primary Colours" :)

The Story of My Life

Just how One Direction titled their new song, I will introduce myself with my "Story of my Life".

I actually don`t like being called an average girl, so from now on I`m introducing myself as a spontaneous and immature girl who loves dedicating her time to the internet and TV!

My name is Kanae, read as Kya-na. No aye sound needed with the "e".
I prefer to write or in this case type my name as Kana.
Yes, I am a seventeen year old girl with a fifteen year old girl`s imagination. My "true" nationality is Japanese, but I was born in Australia and grew up there, so I consider myself to be Australian. oh! and I have an Australian passport to prove it :)

I currently live in the technological city of Tokyo, Japan where everything and everyone is busy! (I so don`t fit in, I need to be laid back). And I`m currently in grade 12, a senior at an International co-ed school.

And you`ve might of noticed that I am a fan of One Direction. Yes, I do like their songs and the stuff they do; I might be the most average when I`m fangirling over them lol. As I have mentioned, I have the imagination and spirit of a fifteen year old girl, meaning I love mainstream pop music, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Girly teen movies and fashion. I still cannot believe that I am seventeen, SEVENTEEN. That is so old for me! So do you know what else this means? Yes, university applicant, I am a university applicant who is considering to go to a university in Australia. So I might be going to uni in 2015 lol that is ages away.

What else? well I like long walks on the beach, gazing into the sunset and eating ice cream. Okay, so those are  lies! except for the ice cream part. Who doesn`t like ice cream? As the same to any other adolescent girl, I love to eat eat eat eat, EAT. Especially sweet and sugary stuff. I have a sweet tooth and a soft spot for sundaes. One of my life goals is to eat the Hogs Breathe Cafe Sundae!!! This divine devil is 4 scoops of strawberry and 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream, and all the creamy goodness in a huge sundae!

So if anyone wants to help me eat this just say and I`ll invite you!

So I`ve just said the most typical things I could say in an introduction.

good bye

The Story of How I was Hooked to Lying Girls

From the title your probably wondering why I would be interested in lying teens but no. I'm talking about the hottest TV drama of our high school year, Pretty Little Liars (well in my opinion)! So what`s got me so mesmerized is the blackmailing, secrets and all the girly stuff that girls adore about the show. Personally saying, I`m a total fan of mystery dramas; like House, where he always tries to solve the patient`s  disease, NCIS and Law and Order, which are the typical mystery crime dramas! Who doesn`t love watching these shows?

Back onto PLL! I was firstly introduced to this while I was on my annual flight to Australia. I had ordered the entertainment package so I was able to enjoy myself by actually having a movie-marathon and TV drama marathon in just 7 hours. I remember watching PLL and The Carrie Diaries (which I`m also watching) and all the usual Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory, but honestly the first episode of PLL wasn`t the best pilot. Because they only had the pilot on the entertainment package, after I got off the plane, I only watched the rest of The Carrie Diaries, and not PLL :( This was probably because the pilot wasn`t the best compared to TCD so I only continued with TCD. After I returned from Australia, I went back to school (currently in my senior year! yay!) and I met up with my old friend outside of school, who works at WB and she gave me the first season of PLL. So this was pretty exciting because we had a sleepover and we watched the first couple of episodes and I was able to regain the story line again. Well after the sleepover, I immediately started watching it for another 3 consecutive days, proudly finishing the whole first season. Yipee! I was really proud of myself for some reason, as I got away with watching PLL on three school nights.

I became (still am) so addicted to PLL that I couldn`t help myself and I watched the rest of season 2 and 3. I honestly practically did not sleep during the two weeks it took me to complete them! I actually want to say that I was surprised about who the first A was but no. I confess to the horrible sin of reading spoilers! I had several tests during the two weeks so you can tell how desperate I was on watching the whole series! So every night before I got to bed I would just sit there and open my bookmarked links to the PLL episode synopsis page and read every plot from the series. I know, I know, such a bad sin and it ruins the story for you, but hey! I was that desperate. And you know what they say, Desperate times, call for desperate measures. In this case, the totally PLL obsessed me couldn`t help but do the outrageous act of reading spoilers!

I went out with my friend again who works at WB and went to the JB concert! (totally off topic) and while we were going home I told her how I was totally hooked to PLL. She kinda guessed actually because my iPhone was all Ashley Benson (lol) and we both decided to have another sleepover and watch the fourth season. But I committed yet another sin. Yes, after the JB concert, I went into my bedroom and started watching PLL season 4. Again, I couldn`t help myself; I tried saying no, do not open the link, but I did I am so sorry. But on the good side, I`m totally up to date with the series!

And now because they`re not airing anymore episodes until next year, I am currently watching anything I see on my English channeled TV.So yea, I`m watching Mickey Mouse Club House all the way to CNN News and Under the Dome. I guess that`s all I want to write for now. But I think I`ll write again about Under the Dome and the Fosters or something along the lines like that.

Good bye, until I feel like writing again.
